One Person Killed After Car Goes Into River

SHESHEQUIN – Fire and EMS crews from Athens Township Fire Department, Athens Borough Fire Department, Ulster Township Fire Department, as well as Broadford County Special Operations, Bradford EMS, Guthrie EMS, and Greater Valley EMS all responded to a single vehicle crash along the Sheshequin Road in Sheshequin Township.

It was reported that a vehicle had rolled into the Susquehanna River early Wednesday morning, July 5, 2023, in Sheshequin Township in Bradford County, PA., around 5:46 AM.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, they are investigating this fatal accident and the victim’s name has not yet been released.

The driver was operating a 2008 Pontiac G6 and was traveling South along the Sheshequin Road when the vehicle went off the East side of the roadway for an unknown reason. Once the vehicle left the roadway it rolled and came to a rest on its roof in the Susquehanna River.

Police stated that the operator was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Broadford County Coroner.

A PennDot crew was brought in to assist at the scene. Furman and Jones Towing would remove the vehicle from the river.
