
SAYRE – Guthrie Clinical Research is currently seeking adults and children over age 5 for Round 2 of a study evaluating a potential vaccine for Lyme disease. There is no cost to participate, health insurance is not required, and those who take part in the study will be compensated for their time.
Each year an estimated 476,000 people in the United States are diagnosed and treated for this tick-borne illness. If left untreated, it cause severe illness and sometimes permanent symptoms.

Approximately 18,000 volunteers are expected to take part in this study nation wide. All participants will receive three initial doses of either the study vaccine or a placebo. A year later, they will receive a booster dose. neither participants in the study or the doctor overseeing the study will know which was given. Some participants will be asked to track any changes in their health using an electronic diary for one week after each dose.
The study is expected to last for about two and a half years, involving a total of seven visits.
