On Tuesday August 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM, the Elmira Police Department held a swearing in
ceremony for a new Police Officer.
Abdallah Hassan took the Oath of Office at City Hall, becoming the Elmira Police Department’s newest police officer. Officer Hassan was previously employed at the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management. He holds an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice from Tompkins Cortland Community College. Officer Hassan is also a graduate of the Spring 2022 session of the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy.
According to Elmira Police Department Chief Kriten Thorne, Officer Hassan will enter into the Elmira Police Department Field Training Program where he will work on several different shifts throughout the course of this program.
