According to Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard, on August 5, 2023, at about 3:15am,
deputies and investigators of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a
collision between a bicyclist and a Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Vehicle on State
Route 415 in Bath.
Allard says that the bicyclist was traveling westerly in the driving lane of State Route 415 when it was struck from the rear by a deputy responding to a call for service.
The bicyclist was alert and responsive at the scene, and taken by EMS for treatment at a regional medical center. Sheriff Allard requested the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit respond to investigate the collision and their investigation is on-going.
