Chemung County Historical Society To Celebrate 100th Anniversary

ELMIRA – The Chemung County Historical Society is turning one huddled years old this yeas, and will be marking the milestone with an anniversary party on August 26th at the Chemung Valley History Museum located at 415 East Water Street in Elmira.

The community is invited to the event, which will be held from 1pm to 5pm. There will be cake and lemonade, as well as the chance to check out some local history, explore new exhibits, and more. At 1:30pm, J.D. Iles, who’s known for his “Hidden Landmarks” page on Facebook, will talk about “Bohemia on the Chemung.”

Then at 2:30 will be a performance by the New York Excelsior Coronet Band. This brass band, complete with vintage instruments, will being live music of the past to life.

The event is free and open to the community.
