In the past several days, Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard has announced the arrest of several individuals for welfare fraud.
The first is 42 year old Jamie S. Swanke of Geneseo. From 10/04/2020 to 06/30/2021 Swanke allegedly offered two false instruments for filing to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and received benefits from the Steuben County Department of Social Services in the amount of $7995.00 that she was not eligible to receive.
Swanke was charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, a class E Felony and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D Felony. She was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.
35 year old Tianna Wilson of Hornell was also arrested and charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, a class E Felony and one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E Felony.
Police say that from 05/01/2020 to 07/31/2020 Wilson offered a false instrument for filing
to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and received benefits from the Steuben County Department of Social Services in the amount of $1733.00 that she was not eligible to receive. She was released with an appearance ticket for the Village of Bath Court at a later date.
On Tuesday, investigators of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested 47 year old Nicole M. Harwood of Hornell. Harwood allegedly received money she was not entitled to in excess of $3,000 and made false entries into an official business record in the Town of Bath.
She was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D Felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, a class E Felony. Harwood was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.
