ELMIRA – At approximately 02:30 A.M. on Sunday, Elmira Fire Department responded to 615 West Gray Street for a possible shed fire with exposure to other nearby buildings
According to Elmira fire Chief Andrew Mallow, the first arriving crew found a fully involved detached garage to the rear of the home with an additional detached garage fire to the east of the original structure. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control and gained access to the second structure to check for extension of the fire.
Mallow says the original building was destroyed by the fire and the exposure sustained mostly exterior damage.
Elmira Fire Department was assisted by West Elmira Fire Department as well
as the Elmira Police Department. Fire Investigators were called to the scene and the cause is
currently under investigation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours.
