Elmira Teen Charged With Two Counts Of Attempted Murder

ELMIRA – An Elmira man is behind bars tonight after allegedly stabbing his parents.

Police say this morning they were dispatched to the 400 block of Pleasant Street for a reported stabbing. Officers were told that two people were stabbed by their son and were seeking refuge at a neighbor’s home.

When police arrived, they were approached by the suspect who voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody. Police officered rendered initial care to the stabbing victims until Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance arrived to provide additional, higher level care.

The investigation revealed that the stabbing had occurred in a vehicle operated by one of the victims when the suspect is said to have lashed out at them, causing severe injuries. Both were taken to an area hospital for treatment. One is in stable condition while the other is reported to be in critical condition.

The suspect, 18 year old Jacob Olson of Elmira has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B felony.

Police say this was not a random act, and the public was in no danger at any time.
