HORSEHEADS – According to Chemung County Sheriff William Schrom, Advance Auto Parts, a leading automotive aftermarket parts provider, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and Horseheads Police Department have joined forces to promote roadway safety for New York residents this holiday season and beyond.
Advance Auto Part’s store team is gifting a card donation of $2,000 to launch the
program, with both agencies receiving $1,000 in gift cards. When law enforcement
observes a minor vehicle equipment infraction, such as a nonfunctioning headlight, signal
light or taillight, they may choose to issue a $25 gift card rather than issuing a traffic
ticket, while encouraging residents to use the card to safely repair their vehicles.
“This is a special opportunity for our Advance team and we’re excited to partner
with our local law enforcement during the holidays to benefit the community,” said
Denise Scott, Advance’s district manager. “Minor equipment issues can result in major
safety hazards, so we’re looking forward to working together with Chemung County
Sheriff’s Office and Horseheads Police to create safer roads, especially as more motorists
travel this time of year.”
While Advance debuted the program in 2020, it’s the company’s first in the Twin
Motorists receiving a gift card may use the card at any Advance Auto Part’s in
Chemung County or online at AdvanceAutoParts.com.
