Elmira Man Charged With Attempted Murder *UPDATE*

ELMIRA – On December 18th around 3:45 PM Elmira Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Columbia Street for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival Officers located a victim who had suffered a stab wound to the abdomen. Officers received information in reference to the identity of the suspect and a description. A person matching the description of the suspect was located and was later confirmed to be the suspect involved in the incident.

Police say the victim was transported to an area hospital.

On December 24th, police learned that the victim, 56 year old Arthur Williams Sr. of Elmira, had died.


As a result of this investigation 45 year old Vincent Rodriguez of Elmira was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B Felony. At this time police have not indicated what, if any further charges, Rodriguez faces as a result of Williams’ death.
